Decoding Neurofeedback: History, Evolution, and Clinical Applications

Presented by Andreas Michaelides, Ph.D., BCN

In this presentation, you will first learn some of the essential histories, as well as the current applications, of neurofeedback. You will hear about the evidence for the efficacy of neurofeedback as a training technique with various populations, including but not limited to - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Depression, PTSD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Anxiety Disorders. We will also discuss the research and applications of neurofeedback in the realm of performance enhancement and sports psychology, and how this technology has been utilized in both military and Olympic training. At the end, we’ll go through a demonstration of how a typical training session would play out, with the help of a volunteer. By the conclusion of this presentation, you should be able to explain the histories, methodologies, and targeted populations (and how neurofeedback is especially effective in these scenarios), as well as use logic and critical thinking to predict future applications of neurofeedback. We’ll take questions at the end of the presentation.

This workshop was recorded on July 9, 2021.
