Suicide rates continue to rise across multiple populations, as life stressors increase and connections wane in our digitally distracted world. This workshop will discuss societal factors leading to increased suicide and self-harm, will cover the essentials on suicide risk assessment, will cover prominent suicide theories, and will teach basic steps in risk management. The risk management portion will include handling crisis contacts, treating suicidal behavior, documentation, knowledge of risk and protective factors, and creating a safety plan. The workshop will also discuss prevention of suicidal behaviors by addressing a range of clinical presentations before they reach a crisis point.
