During couple therapy unmourned losses, including a miscarriage, may come up in conversation. Whether miscarriage is the couple's presenting problem, or when it comes up in conversation, unresolved grief accompanies the couple into the consulting room. Unmourned losses of a baby have a powerful impact on the course treatment. Case vignettes will illustrate and practice ideas will examine working with couples for whom miscarriages are playing a vital role in the marital difficulties. By the end of the workshop, Participants will be able to do the following: (1) Differentiate unresolved mourning of a miscarriage from other couple conflicts; and (2) Understand how object relations couple therapy assists couples experiencing unresolved losses.
